at the CRB Annual Meet & Exhibition
President
Kikwete of Tanzania recently inaugurated the annual Contractors
Registration Board (CRB) meeting and exhibition held in
Dar es Salaam from 27-29th May 2009. The three-day event
was attended by contractors, construction industry professionals,
potential clients, developers, financiers and officials
from related institutions. Attended by DPI Simba Ltd. (DSL),
the central theme of the event was Value for Money in Construction:
A Key for Sustainable Infrastructure Delivery and Poverty
Reduction.
The participants reviewed
amongst other things the role of clients, contractors, consultants
and regulatory structure in value for money infrastructure
delivery and deliberated on how technology and innovation
can be applied as tools for achieving value. The meeting
also explored the opportunities and challenges in regional
economic integration to ensure value for money in infrastructure
development. Also addressed was the impact, prospects, challenges
and mitigating strategies of the global economic crisis
on the construction industry’s development.
The CRB meeting also
hosted an International Construction Technology, Products
and Services Exhibition. The Exhibition is recognized as
a major event for the contracting industry and provided
a unique opportunity to outreach technology, products and
services to the major players in the construction industry
in Tanzania. DSL’s participation in the exhibition
was noteworthy, providing an outreach marketing opportunity
to contenders in the industry and beyond.



Plant Upgrade at DPI Simba

DSL has added a new 160
cfm – 10 Bar air compressor from ELGI to expand its
air requirement for the new additional extrusion lines

DSL has installed a new pulverizer PALLMAN for macerating
its internally generated scrap. The pulverized scrap imparts
superior gelation in the formation of PVC pipes thereby
enhancing product quality using regrind material.
